I’m a native English speaker and would love to be confidently fluent in Italian in a few years so that I can do my medical elective in Italy. What is the best way of learning the language from scratch to becoming confidently fluent in around 3 years?? What sort of resources would I need? How should I be taught?

I want to start learning Italian. I am thinking about buying Italian for Dummies, not sure I want to pay $200 for Rosetta Stone.

The bits and cherry were used to place bicchieri in the sentence – the words were picked because when read, bits-cherry sounds the same with bicchieri.
