I found a forum on google but its not very active so it would be a waste of time to sign up. Are there any other places online to find people who are learning Italian? I think communicating will help me improve.

That’s a great place for finding people to help you with other languages (other learners and fluent speaker)

You can email me…I’m learning! I purchased the Rosetta Stone CD and have been teaching myself. I also have Italian friends who help me a lot. Maybe we can practice on Skype. Anyway, the worst for me is grammar….ugh!

The best way to learn a language is to first understand that it requires time involvement. There is no such thing as being able to learn a language easy or fast (and in many cases for free).
There are a variety of ways to learn to speak a language.
I’m a linguistics graduate student at a California university and I’ve used my fair share of resources. Classes, tutors, books, mp3, dvd, computer software programs.
The best way I’ve found is to get a basic understanding of the language, maybe being able to hold a simple conversation. Then just immerse yourself by always communicating with people who speak that language.
For a vast majority of people though, this isn’t an option.
What I would personally suggest for you, is to invest in a language learning software program for your computer. Some are affordable, some are expensive – but they go leaps and bounds beyond anything else.
My personal recommendation is anything from Rocket Languages, Rosetta Stone, and Fluenz. These are all great programs, and you can’t go wrong with any of them. If I had to suggest one over the others, it would be Rocket Languages. It’s the most affordable, and an amazingly effective fluency program. Runner-up: Fluenz.
Here are some websites which will be of great use to you, and direct you in the right path.

Find an Italian pen-pal instead. You’ll help him learn English as he helps you learn Italian.
